Rhythm Pharmaceuticals to Host Key Opinion Leader Symposium on MC4R Pathway and Patient Experience with Rare Genetic Disorders of Obesity, Including Bardet-Biedl Syndrome

BOSTON, Dec. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:RYTM), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of therapeutics for the treatment of rare genetic disorders of obesity, today announced that it will host a key opinion leader symposium on the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) pathway and patient experience with rare genetic disorders of obesity, with a particular focus on Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS). The event will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET in New York.

Guest speakers scheduled to present at the event include:

  • Bob Haws, M.D., Director of Clinical Research at the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute and Director of the Center of Excellence for Bardet-Biedl Syndrome
  • Lee Kaplan, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Obesity, Metabolism & Nutrition Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School

Additionally, Rhythm management will provide an overview of its clinical development program for setmelanotide, focusing on its combined pivotal Phase 3 trial in BBS and Alström Syndrome, which is expected to initiate and begin enrolling patients by year-end 2018.
